Super 3 Day Juice Diet

I decided to try a 3 day juice diet, no solid food, no dairy, no nothing; Fruit and veggie juice only.  I’m not sure of the effects it will have on my body, but I’m excited to find out.  I will document my energy levels, my weight, and how I feel overall throughout the experience.  In order to not be too malnourished, I will take a multi-vitamin and 500mgs of Vitamin C (my usual vitamins).  Wish me luck, and look forward to reading my experiences.

Day 1
Today starts my 3 day juice diet.  I have decided to try a 3 day juice diet in order to monitor the effects of the diet, see how my digestive system reacts to not having any work to do, monitor my energy levels and weight, and document the overall effects of the experience.

I weighed in today at 217 lbs.

It’s 4:20pm, so the day is half over, and I feel great.  I’ve had 6 ounces of ruby red grapefruit juice, 6 ounces of V8 spicy tomato juice, about 12 ounces of Boltenhouse Vanilla Soy Chai Tea, and a sip of Boltenhouse Green Goodness (a blend of almost all things green), and a lot of water.  I also took a multivitamin this morning, along with 500mg of Vitamin C.

Usually between 2pm and 4 pm I feel a little sluggish, but today I am on top of the world.  No dips in energy, no mid day tiredness, nothing.  It could just be a placebo effect (I expected to be more energetic, so I was), but also I’m sure that the fact that there isn’t anything in my body to be digested is definitely making a difference in my energy levels.  I’ll probably work out today, though nothing too difficult.  I’ll do my push-up workout (I’m training to be able to do 100 push-ups continuously), and a 20 minute high intensity interval sprint.  We’ll see how things go.

I don’t feel hungry just yet, but it is still only the first day, so I’m sure it will come.  If Ghandi could do it for 19 days with just lemon water, I’m sure I can last 3 days on juice.  But who knows, once that burger crave comes things could turn ugly.  Haha, I’ll keep you posted.

Later That Day
It is 11:59p, the end of the first day.  I feel good. I still have a lot of energy.  I didn’t work out, other than the push-ups, but that is ok.  I drank a lot more juice, and I find that the v8 spicy tomato juice seems to be the most filling.  I was a little hungry around 8pm, but overall things are fine.  I find myself heading to the bathroom a lot more than usual, but that seems about right considering the amount of fluid i intake.  Day 1: Success.

Day 2
It’s 4:30pm today, and so far things have been great.  I’ve still only drank fruit and vegetable juice, along with water and tea (green tea, no cream, no sweetener)  I haven’t been hungry, my energy levels are through the roof.  I feel fantastic.  I weighed 214 today, a full 3 lbs lighter than yesterday.  I don’t think it is due to much weight loss, but rather the fact that my intestine are probably empty, as opposed to full as usual.  I think about food a lot, but not because I’m hungry, just because I miss the actual act of eating.  Drinking is fast, especially out of these little 6 oz cans.  Eating is nice and slow, and the taste of different foods is a wonderful experience.  I doubt I’ll take it for granted the next time I eat something delicious.

Also, it seems like there are more hours in the day when I’m not worried about food or eating.  It’s kind of nice.

I’m interested in seeing how eating after day 3 will affect my energy and weight. We’ll see.

Day 3

It’s 7:30pm, I weighed the 214 again today.  I think the difference in weight from the first day was due to the lack of contents in my stomach and intestine, and I will probably gain the weight right back when I eat food again.  I can honestly say that my clarity of mind seems higher, my energy levels are high, my stomach looks flatter, and I feel great.  My 3 day juice diet was a success, and it was a great experience.

One side note, though.  Remember the bag of weed in Harold and Kumar, and how he imagined being married to it and stuff?  I have been having a lot of day dreams about the same type of relationship with a cheeseburger.  Coincidence? Not sure, but one thing is for certain, I love, and will continue to love that beautiful cheeseburger.  I might even hook up with her tonight!

JUICE DIET = AWESOME (although probably not that useful for anything other than giving your digestive system a vacation)
